Gerz 9’’ beer stein – Waidmanns heil Picture(s) and Description:
Gerz 9’’ beer stein – Waidmanns Heil You are bidding on a used Gerz 9” beer stein, manufactured in West Germany. The stein measures almost 11.5” to the tip of the lid, and overall is in fair condition. I say ‘fair’ because while the stein remains a very nice display piece, it has some rather obvious flaws: • A noticeable portion of the thumb grip used to open the lid has been chipped away, • The fox-shaped handle recently met with an unfortunate accident and broke off. (Moral of the story: when you have young children in the house, put the steins on a higher shelf!) It was a relatively clean break, and I was able to repair it with Elmer’s Glue and a small amount of acrylic caulk (see photo showing rear side of handle). However, I’m not a professional, and even if I was, I’m sure the visible nature of the break and a few other chips that resulted from it have significantly reduced the collector’s value on this one. Like I said, it remains a nice display piece, but I wouldn’t go clunking it around at Oktoberfest – hence the low opening bid. The relief depicts a scene of wild boars and deer foraging in a wooded area while a hunter takes aim from a small wooden tower in the background (the European version of a tree stand). The sly fox depicted on the handle is actually climbing up the backside of a tree, where he is out of the hunter’s field of fire. Nearby stands an antlered 12-point stag, with the phrase “Waidmanns heil” appearing beneath, which loosely translated means “Good hunting.” The Gerz factory stamp also is clearly visible on the base of the stein. ** Please e-mail if you have any questions, and check out my site for the companion beer stein I am offering this week. I will combine shipping costs on multiple wins, so please wait to receive a revised invoice before making payment. ** Thanks for viewing my auction, and happy bidding! A note on shipping: I prefer using USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate boxes because it is most convenient for me while providing quick, reliable and easily track-able shipping for the buyer. I will combine or discount shipping costs on multiple wins whenever possible, which is at least 95% of the time. I will ship your item(s) via Priority Mail Flat Rate unless ‘economy shipping’ is listed as an option and you specifically request it at the close of the sale, or unless otherwise noted in the listing (i.e. – the item(s) won’t fit inside a flat rate box, or when items are eligible for Media Mail rates at a substantial savings to the buyer, etc.) I typically offer ‘economy shipping’ at a dollar less than the flat rate prices, because eBay requires me to put an actual dollar figure in when I list that option. If you request economy shipping, please wait for me to send you an adjusted invoice before making payment -- if I can ship it to you for less than the ‘economy rate’ I have listed, I will do so and make an appropriate adjustment to your invoice. While this may save you a couple bucks, please keep in mind that it also will increase the overall shipping and handling time by 2-3 days (maybe more), depending on your location. International bidders: I ship overseas via USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate International. Please note that customs fees and value added taxes may apply, and are the responsibility of the buyer. Fees for insurance, if desired, are also to be paid by the buyer.
